Cardiovascular systems are organs directly related to blood circulation. Circulating blood supplies oxygen and nutrients to body tissues, allowing the cells that make up the tissues to function properly, removing waste generated during the tissue's metabolic process, and playing an important role such as maintaining body temperature and transporting hormones. The heart acts as a pump to supply blood to the whole body with periodic contraction and relaxation. Blood vessels exiting the heart are called arteries, and blood vessels entering the heart are called veins.
